about us brief history Guy Unwin whilst designing and developing a special toaster for a design competition, of whom one of the judges was James Dyson, invented toastabags 4 years ago. While investigating the possibilities of making toasted sandwiches in the toaster and looking for a system that would contain any spillages from the toaster, the basic material that the bags are now made from was found on sale, for use as baking sheets in a local supermarket. After four months of trying various materials, different designs, construction methods and much sampling by friends and family, the final design was confirmed and as no equipment was available to manufacture the bags, they were all hand made. And the rest, as they say, is history - toastabag sales are now exceeding 150,000 per month and they are 'cooking up' success on a global basis with various overseas companies in Europe, America and Australia. Our aim at toastabags Australia is to see every pop-up toaster sitting with a toastabag in it for all of the obvious reasons of safety and health, to have healthy snacks cooked at home and at work by everyone of any age, but also to allow that little extra independance to the young, the elderly and the disabled. Toastabags are a great addition to the kitchen of those living with Coeliac disease, allowing their food to be cooked without the risk of contamination from foods that may trigger an increase in the problem. We look forward to sharing our journey with you - watch the news page for updates on an exciting National initiative about to be launched! HOT TIP! Keep your toastabag in the toaster all the time and let it, not mum, take care of the crumbs - more importantly, stop the temptation to stick a fork or anything else in the toaster to free a piece of food. toastabag, your friend in the toaster. |
