Toastabag Technology - It Simply Works!

Feeding the Elderly
Older people are an increasingly large percentage of the population, many are fit and active, while others are frail and require care.
Research by the Malnutrition Advisory Group (MAG) reports that one in seven people aged over 65 in the UK are malnourished. Elderly people may suffer from malutrition for a range of reasons; illness may mean that their nutritional requirements alter or they may eat badly because they are unable to prepare food for themselves.
Similar studies demonstrate a link between ill health and malnutrition. Simple strategies such as simulating a small appetite can help when started early.

Snacks
Encouraging someone to eat and drink is a complex matter. However, requirements for protein, vitamins and minerals remain the same, so its imperative that food choices are nutritionally dense - supplying a rich supply of nutrients in a small volume.

How can we help?
It is important that the person does not feel overwhelmed at any time but ideally some food should be offered every two to three hours through the day. Toastabags are ideal for use by carers in preparing between-meal snacks. A freshly prepared sandwich can be placed in a toastabag and kept in a refrigerator ready to be cooked in the toaster giving the individual a hot snack when they want it.
Toastabags can be used to cook or reheat small portion main meals too. Fish is a great source of nutrients and can be cooked in a toastabag, in its own juice, in minutes.

HOT TIP! Keep your toastabag in the toaster all the time and it will take care of the mess while saving you time - and more importantly can be used by anyone of any age - just pop in the toaster! The food will simply be contained in the toastabag!
